I write poems about everyday things–Brussels sprouts, “Antiques Roadshow,” the wind, the grass, cockroaches.  I like to write in the front yard of our house in south Minneapolis.  I used to sit in the green plastic chair.  Then my kids got me a nice wicker chair from Target for Father’s Day last year.  I’ve written lots of poems in that chair.  Whatever comes along.

The Sound of It, my first book of poems, was published in 2008 by New Rivers Press and was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award.  My new collection, And Then, will be published by New Rivers Press in October 2012.    My poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The Gettysburg Review, The Nation, The New Republic, Ploughshares, and many other magazines.  Garrison Keillor has read my poems on The Writer’s Almanac.
